Line-up
The album's third, Turn Back, marked the return to the traditional sextet format of the previous albums. It was a more ferocious, constant effort with a harder edge than Hydra. Its more punk-rock sound was a reflection of the maturation of the group and included drummer Bobby Kimball's improved proficiency on the drums, as well as an improved, mature vocal delivery by singer Joseph Williams. Keyboardist David Paich's work was sharper, more intricate, and less derivative than earlier performances.
After touring to promote their album, the group recorded their Amsterdam live concert which was released on Eagle Records as a 2-CD set entitled Falling In Between.
